I AM INKED! [May 2010 Election in the Philippines]

Yes, I am inked on my right index finger. And this dark blue stain signifies that I did my part as registered voter in my country. I've CHOSE and VOTED.

As a first time voter, I was excitedly eager to take part of the biggest event of the nation. And though it was also the first election which is automated, I am still glad that most of the citizen were patient and open-minded enough to accept the change. It seems that today, MAY 10 ELECTION in the PHILIPPINES can be defined as a SUCCESS.

After the ballots were shaded and counted through the PCOS machine, whatever will be the result, whoever might come out, we should respect the decision and support the ones who will be entitled with the responsibilities on their shoulders. But one thing's for sure, leaders only take half part in our nation's betterment and the other half should be the efforts that must come from each of us.

Till now the results are not done yet, but let us all hope for the best.

A CENTIPEDE BIT ME!

Yeah right!

Unluckily, I was bitten by this crawling creature. And I could already feel the pain it had caused me.

And it all started like this...

It was 11 o'clock in the evening and I was seriously reading updates on my computer, when I hurriedly got up from my lying position when a sudden strong sting hit just right below my left hip. Without any hesitation, I look at the area to see any insect, big ant or roaches, that might have cause it. But, I couldn't find anything on my skin which had made me wonder. Just a few seconds passed by, I was terribly horrified to see a crawling creature right beside my legs. Right there and then, my eye went totally wide and crazily stood up in fear. Information rushed to my brain and I just knew what had bitten me.

"A CENTIPEDE BIT ME!" was the statement that came out from my mouth that made everyone in the room with me panicked.

I just stood few inches from the creature looking at it with awe. It was long, approximately 10-12 centimeters in length. It was in a light caramel color. Its pincers were long and pointed. And it moved fast with those sharp edged legs that spread out from its elongated and segmented body.

"A centipede bit me... aren't they poisonous?" I thought to myself.

My mind just got too busy digging out for any information I might have stored inside my head. But all I knew was that I was bitten by an arthropod and it has poisonous venom. My mind suddenly switched to think on the things that might happen to me. CENTIPEDE => BITE => POISONOUS VENOM => SICKNESS => PARALYSIS => MORE SICKNESS => PAIN => DEATH. These were the things I could only think of over and over again.

But after that stop motion moment and after eliminating the centipede, I rushed to see my wound. I could feel great pain but only found a very small dark spot on my skin. I hurriedly washed it with soap and water thinking that I don't want to have any infection afterwards. After doing so, I went back to my PC and searched for centipede bites and if I'll die in a few moments.

RESEARCHED WORDS:

Centipedes are elongated arthropods with multi-segmented bodies. Each of these segments bears a single pair of legs. Their population is distributed widely and centipedes thrive in both temperate and tropical regions. The species belonging to Genus Scolopendra are considered to be the most dangerous: the largest of these, the Scolopendra gigantean, may reach lengths of 26 centimeters.

Victims from centipede bites are often gardeners. For most individuals, a centipede bite is harmless, resulting in a painful sting and symptoms that pass after a few hours. Mild as a bee sting at the least, the pain is worse with larger specimens. Small puncture wounds may be discernible at the area of the bite. Local tissue swelling in the area of the bite may exhibit ruddiness or erythema. More severe symptoms include headache, palpitations, nausea, vomiting, anxiety and lymphangitis, a painful swelling of the lymph nodes.

Bite victims should wash the site with soap and water. A cold compress should then be applied at intervals of 10 minutes. For those with circulatory problems, these intervals may be decreased in order to prevent damage to the skin. Those with other insect allergies should monitor themselves closely following a centipede bite and may need to contact emergency medical services in the event of more severe symptoms.

From these and other more searches, I was relieved to find out that I will not die just because of a centipede bite. But I know, I'll be sure to have swellings and great pain on the bitten area and possibly have a paralyzed leg for the next couple of days if it get worst.

But as of now, the pain is bothersome. It had not put me to sleep because it gets too stingy and it has this burning sensation which bothers me uncomfortably. And it has swollen by now, almost 4 inches in diameter in area. The pain is worse in the furthest part of the bite and it almost spreads to my entire leg.

I'm not really quite sure what else shall the upcoming symptoms will bring me for the next couple of days. But I'm expecting the worst like fever, paralysis, vomiting, nausea and other effects that might uncomfortably weaken me, basing on the reading sources. I'm just hoping it'll ease up for the next few hours.

Nonetheless, I must know how take care of my wound.

HOW TO TREAT A CENTIPEDE BITE:

Centipedes have a painful bite, but the good news is that the pain is often the worst of it. Centipede bites are not toxic enough to be deadly. If you are bitten by a centipede, here are steps that you can take to treat the bite.

Remain calm. The bite will hurt and may cause swelling, but is treatable.
Wash the area with soap and water.
Apply a hot compress to reduce the pain. Or, if you have swelling, use an ice pack or cold compress to help relieve it.
Try taking acetaminophen or ibuprofen to counter the pain.
Treat the itch of a healing centipede bite with the application of a hydrocortisone cream.
Watch the area of the bite for infection. While an antibiotic is not a first step for treating a centipede bite, it is important if an infection develops.

Whatever happens to me now, I know the venom won't poison and kill me. Yet, I need to watch over my centipede bite well to prevent for any infection.

But, the look of that centipede is still crispy clear on my mind and creeps me out.

8.8 EARTHQUAKE HIT CHILE

Just a few weeks after the devastating Haiti phenomenon, an 8.8 magnitude earthquake just hit CHILE.

Early today, 27th of February, Santiago, Chile was destructed with this sudden earth shake causing buildings to collapsed and had set off a tsunami. Death had reached up to 78 people and a huge number of injured victims.

Tsunami warnings were issued to the nearby countries including South America, Hawaii, Australia and New Zealand , Japan, the Philippines, Russia and many Pacific islands.

Recalling the date, May 22, 1960, when Chile was once had struck with the largest earthquake recorded with a 9.5 magtnitude. It had killed 1,655 people and left million fellow homeless. The tsunami that it caused killed people in Hawaii, Japan and Philippines and damaged the west coast of the United States.

THE MOON'S BRIGHTEST AND BIGGEST SHOW TONIGHT

I was looking up at the dark sky last night and was amazingly amused while staring at the bright moon. It had mysteriously attracted my attention and was thinking that there's something special with it.

Just now, was surfing in the net and bumped into a fact that interested me, a LOVE-TO-WATCH-THE-MOON and MOON-LOVER person.

The moon will show its biggest and brightest full moon tonight. Perhaps the biggest and brightest for 2010. It is also known as the WOLF MOON since it'll be the first full moon of the year, a belief from the Native American culture and is also a notion that wolves are howling to the moon during the cold winter nights.

Since the Moon's orbit around the Earth is an ellipse, it reaches it's point where the moon is nearest to the planet which is called perigee. In a year, a full moon coincides with the perigee once or twice. It appears to Earth as biggest and brightest full moon during the year.

And what had added my excitement is that we will able to see the Mars just to the left of the bright moon. It'll be reddish star-like object you'll recognize tonight.

So, let's all witness the moon sparks its biggest and brightest and be mesmerized with its mysterious beauty.

I AM TO SURVIVE!

What am I feeling now?

I'm definitely down with all the negative vibes that surround my weak body and my almost-dying fire within. I am now stuck between the chasing dangers of fears and disappointments on one side and at the very edge of a risky cliff, trying to decide what's a better decision to do. Should I face the danger that's been chasing me or jump off the cliff to get away from these distractions and would not know what will happen next? Can't I have any other choice from these? I wish I could just fly away and escape to the open sky. But I know, I will always have to fall back to where I came.

Few months ago, I have thought of giving out my very best to prove to some people that I can surely have the courage and ability to push and do what I want. I have been too confident. I wasn't able to notice that my wounds have not healed yet and I was not able to prepare it for my upcoming battle. And, here I am now, carrying this pain triple times than before. As my wound left ignored for a longer time, it became worst than before. Like an infectious disease that was not able to control its spreading to become the source of death. But what can I do now? The wound is now exposed once again, hurting hundred times. Worse is, I have added more wounds into myself making these as reasons to pity my own. Yes, I pity my very own self. I am the one looking down to myself. The one who is crying for my misfortunes. The only one who truly understands me. And now that I'm in this battle, the battle to face my fears, insecurities, disbelief, criticism, ignorance and all the dangers in this human world, I am trembling down in agony. I could feel my whole body shivers as I stand looking amidst the creatures of insanity, of authority, negations, the zombies of no-emotion, the monsters of greed and lies and the ghosts of mischief, pain and hatred. How can a shaking flesh of a being defeat these situation? How can a poor creature could remain standing after these heartless attackers? Must I surrender and be eaten alive? Or should I ran again? But till when?

But this very moment is a no turning back! I am here now facing the worse that life could give. But, I can't just raise my hands up and do nothing to rescue myself. I am the only chance to save me from defeating. I am the soul-hero to keep me alive. Whether to jump off the cliff or fight against those filthy creatures, is my obligation. If I have to bear the pain then I will. I have to fight back and show what I've got. I AM TO LIVE! I AM TO SURVIVE! I WILL NEVER SURRENDER! I DESERVE THE BEST!

BATTLEFIELD!

If I was weaker...

I might have committed suicide a long time ago.

If I was more stupid...

I might have pulled myself down to the great miseries.

If i was the worst...

I should have killed everyone that hinders me on anything.

My life has been a battlefield...

But i did tried to turn everything worst to better.

I could have ended my life a long time ago as i have been thinking since then.

But i always keep my head raised up from this filthy situations to make me feel better.

What worst can i have then?

Im not being dramatic in here!

I'm damn serious telling everyone how i feel.

It was a good thing to be heartless, numb and cold sometimes.

PAIN does not penetrate well.

I know it isn't healthy.

But what can i do?

Those are the ones which is keeping me ALIVE!

I live my life, coz i deserve to!

I breathe the air, coz i am to savor LIFE as it should be!

I watch the world, coz i know i am part of it!

I cry, coz it releases me from soberness...

I laugh, coz i am to!

It has been cruel!

But I think, I believe...

That I am so trying to taste the warm sunshine.

In my battlefield i could see...

Millions of blooded creatures lying cold on the ground...

REDs and BLACKs surround the whole scene...

CHAOTIC!

And here, I stand alone amidst these unpleasant view.

Here, I stand alone seeing the blissful realities of life.

Here, I stand alone hearing the screams of agony.

Here, I stand alone.

Here, I am, trying my best to see what best it could bring...

I hope, I won't ran out of good reasons for everything that happens worst...

I still HOPE that I could KEEP MYSELF STANDING IN MY OWN BATTLEFIELD.

I do believe...

I will soon STAND on a PARADISE that was once my BATTLEFIELD.

I won't let the FIRE die within me!

But, if it does...

Then, it means that I did not SURVIVED!

First Blog

Hey!

I've just started to type in my first contribution into my first blog ever. I'm still a bit confuse on what to do, like what information I need to figure out what would be the right thing to do.

But why am I doing this? Well, I just bumped into this interesting feeling of motivation to expose and laid my thoughts on the table. This would be a great way of expressing oneself while having someone learn something upon your experiences in anyway possible. Above all, I am having a great wonderful feeling when I'm writing or typing or let's just say creating something from within.

I don't really know what will happen from this moment on. But, I have a great feeling that I have made a good decision.
